Sunday Stamps II - 23

Canada, 1948
featuring Queen Victoria who was reigning in 1848 when Responsible Government was introduced and King George VI who was reigning in 1948 during the 100th anniversary.

Queen Victoria was born on May 24th 1819  (Canada celebrates with a holiday on the Monday before the 24th of May).  She would be 196 years old were she still alive.

Very nice - the black looks appropriately serious.

The term 'responsible government' is an interesting one from a modern perspective.

I like this stamp.
I wonder why have you chosen Queen Victoria.

I guess all governments think they are responsible these days.
It's easy to see now why you selected Victoria with a stamp like this available..

Thanks for awarding me a bonus prize to choose a theme. With great power comes great responsibility:-) I'm going to choose one of my favourite subjects 'post boxes/letter boxes' which for those non obsessives could be expanded into things connected with post. Its a significant year for them in the UK as we got our first one in 1855 as you will see in July!

Good choice - and not one I would have chosen (will seek out post box stamps at our stamp show in June!) Thanks for the suggestion.
